SACRATE.com History
SACRATE.com began as a small idea to provide students with a resource that would ease the trip through college. Started in March of 1999 by two students and a few friends the site has been trying to keep up with the needs of Sacramento's student population. The idea was great and the timing could not have been better. Limited resources and some doubt brought the first version of SACRATE.com online at a minimal level with minimal expenses the testing began.
Operating for a year, working most of the kinks out of the system, the site was finally ready to be known by the public. But greatness does not come without it's problems. We endured many issues, including a crash of our database on our web server only a few months after the first newspaper ads ran. After developing a temporary version while the database was redesigned, the current version was born. The database after about a year of work is now finally back and running the site once again.
We watched other people attempt and fail to do what our site does. After three years of operation we finally realize that SACRATE.com is here to stay and has a great user base. This base has allowed us to keep the site free of charge by depending only on advertising revenue.
We began this journey with a dim light. As time has passed the light has gotten brighter and the site has improved. Our staff has grown and our sponsors have increased. The site has grown in size, but has tried to keep the personal feeling directed to the students for the students. We have received great feedback from both students and professors about the site and that has led us to where we are today.
SACRATE.com and all of it's staff would like to thank each and every person that has had the patience and great suggestions to help us expand and better serve the students.
"After several years of programming and frustration, we have finally launched the new backend. It is a great day!"
